Afforestation & Environment

Ghana

Planting indigenous trees, establishing community forest management groups, and integrating agroforestry practices into smallholder farms to build long-term climate resilience.

Restoring Our Environment, Securing Our Future

Climate change and deforestation threaten the livelihoods and ecosystems that rural communities depend upon. The Richsel Legacy Foundation takes a community-driven approach to environmental restoration — planting trees, protecting forests, and building climate resilience from the ground up.

What We Do

  • Indigenous Tree Planting: We organise community tree-planting campaigns using indigenous species that are adapted to local conditions, ensuring high survival rates and ecological benefit.
  • Community Forest Management: We establish forest management groups that monitor, protect, and sustainably harvest forest resources, giving communities ownership over their natural environment.
  • Agroforestry Integration: We train smallholder farmers to integrate tree planting into their farming systems, improving soil fertility, providing shade, and diversifying income through fruit and timber production.

Our Impact

Our afforestation initiatives contribute to carbon sequestration, biodiversity conservation, and improved agricultural productivity — creating a healthier environment for current and future generations.
