Our History

How We Started

The Richsel Legacy Foundation was born from the vision of Richardson Mensah, who grew up in Ghana's Volta Region and witnessed firsthand the challenges facing rural communities — limited access to clean water, inadequate support for vulnerable populations, and environmental degradation threatening livelihoods.

What began as small community outreach initiatives in the Volta Region grew into a registered non-profit organisation with a clear mission: to partner with communities for sustainable development. With the establishment of a USA office in New York, the Foundation built an international bridge — connecting resources, expertise, and compassion across continents.

Today, the Richsel Legacy Foundation operates across four strategic pillars — Water & Sanitation, Women's Empowerment, Care for the Needy, and Afforestation — guided by the principle that true legacy is built in the lives of others.

Strategic Focus

Our Four Pillars

Water & Sanitation

Providing sustainable access to clean drinking water, constructing community-managed water points, and reducing water-borne diseases through hygiene promotion and community-led sanitation campaigns.

Women's Empowerment

Establishing women-led savings and loan associations, providing skills training in sustainable livelihoods, and ensuring women hold at least 50% of leadership positions in all community committees.

Care for the Needy

Identifying and supporting the most vulnerable — elderly, disabled, and orphaned children — with nutritional support, basic medical aid, social companionship, and dignity kits.

Afforestation & Environment

Planting indigenous trees, establishing community forest management groups, and integrating agroforestry practices into smallholder farms to build long-term climate resilience.
