How It All Began

The Problem
In Ghana's Volta Region, entire communities walked hours for water that made their children sick. Women spent their days carrying water instead of building futures.
The Spark
Richardson Mensah, who grew up in these communities, refused to accept this as inevitable. With a small group of volunteers, he began organizing—first locally, then from Accra, then across the ocean to New York.

The Foundation
Today, Richsel Legacy Foundation LBG operates across Ghana and the USA with a team of 7 dedicated leaders, working across 4 strategic pillars to build self-reliant communities.
Four Pillars of Lasting Change
Every initiative we run is rooted in dignity, sustainability, and partnership with the communities we serve.
Water & Sanitation
Sustainable clean water access, community-managed water points, and hygiene education that transforms community health.
Women's Empowerment
Women-led savings groups, skills training, and ensuring 50% female leadership in all community committees.
Care for the Needy
Supporting the elderly, disabled, and orphaned with nutritional aid, medical support, and dignity kits.
Afforestation & Environment
Indigenous tree planting, community forest management, and agroforestry for long-term climate resilience.
How We Work
Community-led, sustainable, and built to last.
Identify
We partner directly with community leaders to identify the most pressing needs—listening before acting.
Plan
Every program is co-designed with the community, ensuring local ownership and cultural alignment.
Implement
Our team on the ground in Ghana's Volta Region and Accra works hands-on to deliver programs.
Sustain
We train community members to maintain and lead programs long after our direct involvement ends.
